Blyth South is a long, wide, golden stretch of sandy beach, backed by a system of sand dunes which are a haven for wildlife and a designated area of Special Nature Conservation.
Parking is available towards the northern end of the beach on the edge of the town of Blyth, at the Mermaid Car Park, off the B1329, post code NE24 3PL.
Access to the beach
From our container the path takes you past the Blyth Battery tea room and there are slopes to both the east and west sides of the beach.
The east side beach runs towards Blyth. This is the longer side but care needs to be taken as there can sometimes be large pebbles at the end of the easterly slope.
The west side is a shorter stretch of beach.
When the tide is high there can be very little beach to make use of, so it’s always advisable to check the tides before you come. You can do this using the Tide Times website Opens in a new window.
At Blyth, we usually have
- Nomad Tundra
- Nomad Desert
- Yellow wheels
- Freedom Trax

Please be aware the equipment available may change as we sometimes move equipment between sites.

The Dave Stephens Centre Opens in a new window has public toilets including a large disabled toilet, outside water tap and a small team room.
Restrictions are in place on certain areas of the beach between May & October. For detailed information you can check Northumberland County Council Website Opens in a new window.
